MATLAB Flight Delay Pattern Analysis
10/2022 - 12/2022
Worked On: Backend, data scrubbing and data visualization
Other Group Members: Sydnee Funai, Elizabeth
- For our final project in the Intro-to-Programming class, we worked as a cohesive 3-member team to conduct a comprehensive analysis of flight delays for the purpose of finding out the best airline ad airport to fly in different travel seasons in order to avoid delay in the greatest extent.
- For a fair comparison, I scrubbed and cleaned the dataset by removing data from 2020 and eliminating missing values, and categorized airports based on the number of incoming flights, dividing them into small, medium, and large categories. Then, we curated a visualization of the distribution of incoming flights per airport using MATLAB bar charts, offering a clear representation of the data, allowing us to analyze delay data on a month-by-month basis, identifying fluctuations in delay times throughout the year.
- We concluded our findings by recommending specific airlines to choose for each month to avoid delays, offering practical advice for travelers.
- We collaboratively managed the project timeline and milestones, ensuring that deadlines were met and the project progressed smoothly.
